MMC generated practical data and process analysis from a medium-sized company as part of a research contract commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Research. The aim was to create a practical guide for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project lasted a total of three years. The results were published under the project name PROMIDIS. Project partners included the University of Hamburg, the Catholic University of Eichstätt, the RKW Competence Center, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Society for Quality DGQ.

How can product-related services be developed or further developed to contribute measurably more to the success of a company? For three years, the PROMIDIS consortium partners from academia and business, with medium-sized production companies as application partners, have explored this question. The outcome includes:

• a practical guide,

• modular training courses,

• methods for further developing existing and developing new services,

• concepts for the introduction of innovative software-based control and

  management instruments.
